NCC:
The college offers its students the opportunity to join NCC. NCC trained students are prioritized in
Central and State Employment Schemes. NCC Certificates help the students to find placement in the Armed Forces and related services. Adventure training is provided to the NCC students. There are also attractive
scholarships for the best cadets ranging from Rs.5000/- to Rs. 50,000/-. NCC students are provided their uniform free of cost and are given various allowances during their training period.
National Service Scheme (NSS):
The NSS Unit sanctioned by the Government of India has been set up in this college. Social outreach programmes involving
Disaster Preparedness, Environment Enrichment and Conservation, Health and Nutrition Programes of the Unit are held regularly. NSS is mainly a personality development programme by involving the students in community services. Social responsibilities is nurtured in the students as they
participate in various social service schemes involving Orphanages, Old-Age Homes and Blind Students. Special camps are also held each year where certificates issued by University to the students. The best and efficient
student volunteers will be given chance to participate in the Pre-Republic Day and Republic Day camps, National Integration camps, Inter State Youth Exchange camps and Youth Festivals. The Government of India also selects student volunteers for International Youth Delegation. The Indira Gandhi National NSS Award is given to the outstanding NSS student volunteers and NSS Units.
ANANDAMELA:
Many of our students have inherent artistic talents and excel in producing original handicrafts. To encourage their creativity and bring out their entrepreneurial skill, a College fete –
ANANDAMELA is held every year. The students put up various stalls, displaying their varied and interesting merchandise and they find willing clientele in the teachers of the college.
Seminars:
Various departments of the college arrange
UGC sponsored seminars in which the students play a major organizational role. They also participate in students seminars as part of their co-curricular activities.
The students of this college also participate in Youth Parliament Sessions and have won prizes.
Publications:
Publications, in varied forms and shapes, form an integral part of the intellectual life of the Muralidhar Girls’ College. They are reflective of the budding minds of young scholars and the on-going academic pursuits of the teachers of the
college. Consequently the college brings out a number of publications like the magazines and journals of the respective departments such as
“SUPARNA”, the college magazine, “SCRIBE”, the journal of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication,
“INSIGNIA”, the journal of the Department of English.
Annual Sports:
Annual Sports of the College is a long-standing tradition and it has been effectively fostering a spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship.
College Fest:
The College Fest
“SPARK” brings to the fore the artistic aspirations of the students and the organizational skill of the Students Union. From generating funds to the detailed management of every aspect of the event, the students, under the leadership of their Union, take on a very active role. The teachers and college administration are undoubtedly supportive, but the credit for the success of
SPARK entirely goes to the students.
Students' Union:
The Students' Union is an elected body. It looks after the interests of the students, ensuring that their demands and grievances are suitably addressed. The Students Union actively organizes all extra-curricular activities of the college, with the help and support of the teachers.
Drama Club:
There is a functioning drama club of the College. Every year students participate in
Workshops conducted by Teachers of the College to Stage Plays and Dance
Drama at the Annual College Social.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
The Annual Social of the College is in many ways a
culmination of the year long cultural and extra-curricular
activities of the students. They are rewarded not only for their
academic performance but also for excelling in Music, Dance,
Debate, Extempore Speech and Elocution Competition. Other cultural activities include the
Fresher’s Welcome, Teacher’s Day, Students’ Re-Union and Staff Re-Union.
